New Meningococcal Meningitis Group B Vaccine...

We are happy to announce the release of Trumenba; a new vaccine against Meningococcal Meningitis Group B.

This specific group B bacteria now is responsible for 30% of the life threatening cases of meningococcal disease. It has been the cause of many of the recently reported outbreaks on college campuses.

Trumenba is given as a 3 shot series and provides additional meningococcal disease protection. The other available meningococcal vaccines Menactra and Menveo protect only against Groups A, C, W and Y and does NOT protect against Group B. Therefore, it is important that your child receive both of the meningococcal vaccines.

Trumenba is available for ages 10 to 25 years. It can be given on the same vaccine schedule as the Gardasil vaccine; a 3 shot series we recommend for teenagers and young adults.
